Who does not uses Whatsapp? We have used it on our Mobile Phones, Tablets, Symbian Devices, Blackberry, iOS and even on BlueStacks. Whatsapp Web has now an alternate as Whatsapp PC Setup which is available for MAC OS 10.9 and higher, and Windows 8 32bit/ 64bit and higher, released by Whatsapp itself Officially. Now you can use Whatsapp Online through your PC as a Software and no need to use Web Browser. Although You will have to be running Whatsapp on Mobile to validate this sign in on PC. Lets have a deeper look into this.
How to Download Whatsapp PC Setup
If you go to https://web.whatsapp.com/ and LogIn into your account, on the right side of your screen, you will see

You can click on that Get it here link and it will take you to the Whatsapp PC Setup Site.
Choose your Platform and the processor type and download the Setup. The Setup size for Windows is between 78-89mb and for Mac it is 66mb.
Run the Setup, it will take little time to initialize, and then you should see the QR Scan Part. You cannot use this app unless you have whatsapp active and running in background on your mobile. Just go to your mobile phone’s whatsapp menu, choose Whatsapp Web and scan the QR code. Now your Desktop app is ready to run your Whatsapp account.
Although you may say that Whatsapp Web and Whatsapp PC Setup, both look almost same, but you will have better control your account through PC Setup, and major difference is that Web is Browser based and Setup is Standalone. There are also few shortcuts that can help you navigate through most of your PC Whatsapp features easily.

1. Whatsapp Homescreen
Although not much difference from the Desktop App, you dont have to worry about browser lags, if you are working on some browser, you can easily switch to desktop app, rather than searching for the whatsapp Tab in browser.
Menu will help you to do almost all things you do on mobile whatsapp. We shall look all of them in detail now.
3. Profile and Status
You can change profile image by clicking on he image icon, it will navigate you to a new window from your File Explorer on your PC, select your image and Press Ok/Select.
You will see almost all settings including setting wallpaper too. Notifications allow you to ignore repeatedly coming sounds of messages when they arrive. Besides, you can always click on Help when you need something.
5. Archived Chats
The Archive Chat feature allows you to hide a conversation from your Chats screen and access it later, if needed. You can archive group or individual chats to better organize your conversations. Note: Using Archive Chat does not delete the chat, nor does it back up the chat to your SD card.
6. Send Media Files
You can simply drag and drop any image, video, audio or text file you want to share with your contact from your file explorer. Its that easy! else you can select from attachments too.
7. Desktop Settings
With this feature, you can start whatsapp by default as soon as you login into your PC. Make sure that the Whatsapp Web service is active on your Phone.
You can Turn off Sounds to avoid getting disturbed by frequently receiving messages if you are working on your PC. Keep Desktop Alerts enabled so that you are notified on screen about new messages. Show Previews will show a small thumbnail of the contact or group with the message received.
9. Group Chat Options
You can click on the down-facing arrow on any chat and select to Reply it specifially or Star that message or Delete it. Clicking on the User Name will open that User’s personal chat with yours.
Whatsapp supports Images, Videos, Text, Word Documents, Maps and Contacts files to be shared as attachments. When you click on it, a window shall open of your file explorer and then you can select your attachment and send it.
These are group menu options. You can see all the group info, the members list, you can leave the group or mute it. If you want to delete multiple messages, or forward or star them, you have that option too. Select Messages will help you do that.
So these are various Features Whatsapp Desktop App provides, although you wont find any difference from he Web View, but it is still helpful for those who would like to keep whatsapp away from web view so that they can seamlessly switch between these apps while working and that the browser may not consume much of the ram.
